[APPLY NOW] Capacity Building on Business and Human Rights, Human Rights Due Diligence and the OECD Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct

The Diplomacy Training Program (DTP), in partnership with INFID, is calling for applications for its 2026 Capacity Building on Business and Human Rights, Human Rights Due Diligence and the OECD Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct program in Jakarta, Indonesia.

This is a 5-day capacity building training program targeted to Indonesian NGOs and human rights and environmental defenders to enhance awareness, knowledge, and understanding of international standards on business and human rights (BHR), emerging national and international frameworks on human rights due diligence (HRDD), and the OECD guidelines on responsible business conduct (RBC). This program will contribute to efforts of Indonesian civil society and government to integrate human rights into Indonesia’s OECD accession process, and the establishment of its grievance mechanism – the National Contact Point.

Through participatory and engaging teaching methodology, the program will include knowledge and skills building and practical dialogue sessions with NGOs, government, parliamentarians and the private sector to strengthen lasting stakeholder networks for ongoing dialogue and support for advocates across Indonesia. Sessions will explicitly integrate a feminist lens, addressing gender-based violence in business contexts, unpaid care burdens, and gender-based inequities in remedies.

The program will be held in Bogor and Jakarta, as the Indonesian government develops its policies on HRDD and accession to the OECD. Building wider awareness among NGOs, environmental and human rights defenders of the OECD Guidelines on RBC is important. The program will explicitly integrate a feminist lens, recognising that women, girls and gender-diverse persons experience disproportionate and differentiated impacts of business activities, particularly within supply chains and in the extractive industries. Participants will learn about National Contact Points (NCPs) and best practice models.

What are the objectives of the program?

  • Building Knowledge of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and HRDD
  • Building Knowledge of the OECD Guidelines on RCPs, NCPs and international good practice models;
  • Practical dialogue sessions with Indonesian NGOs, government, and the private sector;
  • Building understanding of the disproportionate and differentiated impacts of business on women and persons with a disability;

Who should apply for the training?

The program is for Indonesian NGO/CSO representatives who are engaged in policy and advocacy on issues of environment, labour rights, the rights of Indigenous Peoples, the rights of women and the rights of persons with a disability. Applications are invited from across Indonesia and priority will be given to ensuring a gender, regional and issue balance.

What is the training methodology?

DTP recognises the importance of adult education methods, and participants will be actively involved in learning and sharing during the training. Trainers and facilitators will include experienced practitioners and experts on BHR and the OECD from Indonesia, Australia and Norway. The experience, knowledge of participants is highly valued and participants will be expected to share their knowledge with others through the program.

Currently it is proposed that an initial three-day program in Bogor will focus on knowledge and skills building. This will be followed by 1.5 days of facilitated dialogues with representatives of government, the parliament and the private sector.

What is the cost involved?

Funding is currently being sought for the program to ensure that all costs for participation will be covered by the organising partners.
